Brian Eggert has been an online movie critic and writer since the launch of his website Deep Focus Review (www.deepfocusreview.com) in 2007. An obsessive cinéphile since his youth—premature viewings of Alien, John Carpenter’s The Thing, and the works of Alfred Hitchcock at a young age had a lasting impact—Brian’s prime interest of study has been film as a marriage of art and entertainment. He earned his BA from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities in 2006, studying Art History, Studies in Cinema & Media Culture, and Cultural Studies & Comparative Literature. In 2006, he began writing movie reviews on a blog called “The Eggert Revue”, which was then launched as an independent website in 2007. Deep Focus Review has since featured movie reviews and articles based in research and theory. Brian has an extensive library of films and books on film history. He lives in Minnesota with his wife and dog.
